Where do you begin the task of trying to describe Johnny Rizzo?  The elastic faces, the flopping limbs, the silly, googly eyes…he’s got you in stitches and he hasn’t even opened his mouth yet!  And once that happens, you’re gone.  At the end of the night, your face hurts – literally – from the constant laughter.  He has earned the nickname, “The Rubber-Faced Comedian.”

Part old school (think Red Skelton, Jerry Lewis, Danny Kaye) intertwined with his own unique observations on everyday life, Johnny Rizzo has been cracking up audiences around the country for over 30 years.  Born in raised in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Johnny cut his comedy teeth in some of the most hallowed clubs in New York City, including Catch a Rising Star, Caroline’s, Dangerfield’s and The Comic Strip.  Before long, Johnny was opening all over the country for superstars including Jay Leno, Richard Belzer, Dennis Miller, Tommy Chong, Joan Rivers, “Weird” Al Yankovic, Ray Charles, Little Anthony and the Imperials, The Mamas and the Papas, Pat Cooper and Henny Youngman.
Johnny has headlined across the country at The Bitter End in NYC, the Borgota Casino in Atlantic City, the Riviera and Sun Coast casinos in Las Vegas and at all the major comedy clubs, including Madison Square Garden.  He has appeared on numerous television programs including NBC’s Last Comic Standing, Fox’s 30 Seconds to Fame, A & E Comedy on the Road and The Joan Lunden Show. He also received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Achievement – Performance Artist, for the acclaimed CPTV comedy special, Hot Summer Nights.  He also hosted his own public-access talk and variety show, The Johnny Rizzo Show.

Johnny has also toured the country as part of Jim Labriola’s Night of 1000 Guidos comedy revue show.  He continues to perform hundreds of shows per year.  “I’m a road monkey,” says Johnny, “I’m paying off my car with jokes.”

He has appeared in numerous television commercials and also appeared in feature films. Johnny is currently the host of ESOTERICA with Johnny Rizzo, a offbeat radio program now available for free downloads on iTunes.

Kevin Meaney at Wolf's 1-11
Dates: 01-16-2015

The Comedy Works at Wolf's 1-11 series continues with headliner:

KEVIN MEANEY

Friday January 16th, 2015 at 8:00pm

Tickets - $20.00 advance, $25.00 day of show.

In a world of few absolutes, this is one: KEVIN MEANEY was born to entertain. From his earliest days as a singing altar boy at Mass, he's gone on to achieve mass appeal for his singular brand of comedy that includes acting out stories, musical flights of fancy and telling tales on the family.

KEVIN MEANEY has been one of the country's most popular standup comedians for more than 25 years. Tom Shales of the Washington Post said, "Picture the precocious love child of Jonathan Winters and Ethel Merman and you have some idea of Kevin Meaney's act."

Making people laugh has always been a top priority for Kevin. From his early years doing standup comedy in San Francisco and Boston he's amassed an impressive list of credits along the way. His first HBO special in 1986 catapulted him to the forefront of the comedy scene. In 1987, Kevin made his debut appearance on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and was invited by Johnny to join the guest panel. Since his first appearance, Kevin has returned to the show a dozen times. He was a special guest on Saturday Night Live and has appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman, Regis, Oprah and Late Night with Conan O'Brien.

Kevin also starred in the CBS sitcom Uncle Buck which ran for a full season. In addition, he has done numerous guest appearances on both sitcoms and dramas. He also had a featured role in the movie Big.

Known for drawing upon his family relationships for much of his material, Kevin has made such lines as "That's not Right" and "We're Big Pants People" and "We're going to lose the house" (delivered in the tremulous voice of his mother) catch phrases for hilarity. An evening with Kevin is a trip to the funhouse and one laugh escalates into a bigger one and good-hearted humor prevails.

Kevin is also a successful writer and producer. He wrote and produced and starred in a one-man autobiographical play titled Wedding Vows in Vegas which premiered at the prestigious U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado before going on to a successful summer run in Boston at the Hasty Pudding Theatre. Steve Martin called it, "The most innovative, heart-rending and funny show I've seen in a long, long time."

Then there is the Kevin Meaney Christmas Show, which is unlike any Christmas show you've ever seen before. Kevin has written and produced this show so as to combine his unique and irresistible brand of humor, his gift for singing, zany man-on-the-street interviews and featured comedy guests. The show is a wildly entertaining evening and has played in numerous theaters across the country.

In 2002, Kevin moved home to NY from Los Angeles and began working on Broadway in the hit musical, Hairspray. Hairspray has been a life changing experience for Kevin and during an interview on XM Radio's Stand Up Sit Down on May 28, 2008, Kevin told the host that he was gay. It's been a big transition but he's seemed to find humor in how this all happened.

So, Big Pants People of the world unite... your leader is here, his name is Kevin Meaney and he's on a mission of mirth.

Kevin is currently living in New York with his daughter.

GODFREY is one of the hottest comedians on the circuit.  Growing up in Chicago, he constantly got in trouble for misbehaving and being an all-around class clown.  Godfrey's Nigerian parents unknowingly encouraged his bad behavior by showing him classic comedy films from an early age.  While performing impressions of his college football teammates, Godfrey realized his irreverent style of comedy might be more than just a hobby..

As one of the most dominant forces in the comedy circuit, Godfrey has been seen on stages from New York and Los Angeles to Dubai. Along with his own one-hour special on Comedy Central, Godfrey recently starred in the FX pilot "Bronx Warrants," adding to his onscreen credits which include ZOOLANDER, "30 Rock," and a recurring role on "Louie."  Godfrey also stars alongside Shaquille O'Neal on the TruTV series, "Upload," which is now going into its second season.)

JAMIE KENNEDY - SPECIAL EVENT
Dates: 01-28-2015

Wednesday - January 28th - 7:00pm

SPECIAL EVENT - An evening with JAMIE KENNEDY

Tickets - $20.00 advance, $25.00 day of show

The Comedy Works - 500 Northern Blvd - Albany, NY

Setting himself apart from his contemporaries as an actor, writer and producer, Jamie Kennedy is proving that talent and versatility can be parlayed into success in several different forums of entertainment.

Kennedy co-wrote and starred in the Warner Bros. hit film "Malibu's Most Wanted." Kennedy's character in the film, B-Rad is based on the one that he created and portrayed on his popular WB television series "JKX: The Jamie Kennedy Experiment," where he wears three hats as star, writer and producer. The show recently concluded its third and final season.

While JKX is no longer, that certainly does not spell the end of television for Kennedy as he's executive producing two mid-season shows for the WB. "The Next Hollywood Starlet" will be a half hour comedy/reality skein based loosely on his book. It will take a group of aspiring actresses who will live, work and ultimately compete against one another in a bid to get discovered. His other project is "Shacking Up," starring Fran Drescher, a sitcom based on Kennedy's real life experiences when he moved to Los Angeles and became involved with a dysfunctional family. Both shows are scheduled to debut mid-season on The WB.

Kennedy's breakout performance was in Wes Craven's "Scream" and "Scream 2" for which he won a Blockbuster Award for Best Supporting Actor/Horror, since then he has been seen in such films as; "Bait" starring Jamie Fox and David Morse, New Line Cinema's "Boiler Room" starring Ben Affleck and Giovanni Ribisi, the Warner Brothers feature "Three Kings," starring George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg, Ice Cube and Spike Jonze, and the Universal Feature "Bowfinger" with Eddie Murphy, Steve Martin and Heather Graham.

Kennedy's other credits include "Enemy of the State" opposite Will Smith and Gene Hackman, "William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet" with Leonardo DiCaprio, and "The Specials." Kennedy currently resides in Los Angeles.

Not confined solely to any one medium, last year, Kennedy released his autobiography, Wannabe...A Hollywood Experiment. In the book, he shares with the readers the good and the bad times, from his boyhood in Philly to his Hollywood experiences (and inexperience)

The Comedy Works - 500 Northern Blvd - Albany, NY

Sam Morril, one of the fastest rising comics in New York City, is also one of the best joke writers in the scene today. How do you know that's true? Because he is writing this bio, and he wouldn't lie about that to get extra work.  Sam won March Madness 2010 at Comix, and was featured in a 4-page spread in the Daily News as "one of the four funniest in New York?" He then won the Laughing Skull Festival in Atlanta, beating out over 600 (dreams were shattered!) applicants.
In 2011, Sam was named a “Comic to Watch” by Comedy Central. His comedy can be heard on Sirius XM radio, and you can see him regularly at all the best clubs in New York City.
Recently, he’s been on “Gotham Comedy Live” on AXS TV, and the “The Artie Lange Show.” Sam made a big impression at Montreal’s “Just for Laughs” Comedy Festival, and was written up a stand out among the “New Faces.”
Sam has been seen talking sports (mostly about his beloved Knicks) on MSG’s “The Bracket,” and he recently made his Late Night Debut on “Conan” on TBS.
You can see Sam regularly on “Red Eye” on Fox News, and he recently taped a stand-up set for Comedy Central on the second season of Adam Devine’s House Party.

Time Out New York says: "Morril's jokes arise from his humiliations - sure, a lot of comedy does, but he's especially adept at it".  Come see Sam before you catch swine flu or something. It’s out there!

Dan Wilson & Guests
Dates: 02-13-2015

DAN WILSON & GUESTS

Friday February 13th - 7:30p & 9:30p (dinner & show package seating at 6:00pm)

The Comedy Works - 500 Northern Blvd - Albany

Tickets - $15.00 in advance, $20.00 day of show

Dinner & Show package - $39.95 in advance, $44.95 day of show

Exactly one year to the day that Dan quit college for a career in show business, he was building cars on an assembly line! After welding the EXACT same spot on 499,207 cars, he lost his mind, making him a perfect candidate for the world of stand-up comedy.

Dan Wilson is one of those breezy, gentle types that will hit you like a building collapsing. A naturally funny man, Wilson can rip through an inspired set that somehow connects Rudy Vallee-style rapping, midget-wrestling, plane flight annoyances, Barney Fife, and a visit to the dentist. A tremendous amount of his material is potently funny, a sucker punch that you don't expect from an innocent smile and an average Joe, but Wilson is one of the great "class clowns" in the business. This is good-time, clean, and inoffensive comedy. With a steady flow of laughs, Wilson uncorks some hysterical tomfoolery. He is the type of stand-up that reminds you of those summer nights when you were a kid and your best friend got you giddy and made you laugh for so long that it hurt. His quirky style mixes keen observations with outrageous physical humor, all delivered in a genial "I'm-only-trying-to-fix-the-world-before-it's-too-late" deadpan. Dan Wilson is a mischievous and likeable bloke that is funny whether he's pausing to look at you or working with sound effects. This light-hearted lunatic is off and running from the second he hits the stage as he is just a fun guy to be around. Dan Wilson would get solid marks in everything from his material to his timing to his stage persona.

Long a favorite on the college and club circuits, Dan has had a string of television appearances on MTV, A&E, HBO, ESPN and Lifetime. His rubbery face and keen ear for voices earned him status as a recurring sketch performer on HBO's "Hardcore TV." He's one of those acts that would crack up a firehouse as easily as an Elk's lodge, a bachelor party, a PTA bake sale, a corporate meeting and a little league fundraiser. Dan has appeared at showrooms in Las Vegas, Atlantic City & Reno, as well as the North Fork Theater at Westbury. He continues to headline Comedy Clubs nationwide as well as entertaining many families aboard Royal Caribbean Cruises.

Previously, Tommy was also seen cracking jokes and doing what he does best, making people laugh, in THE FOX NFL SHOW. Tommy co-hosted this unique show with football greats Michael Irvin and Tony Siragusa. Tommy starred in Spike Lee's Bamboozled where he received acclaim and praise for his turn as Womack/Sleep ?N Eats, a character which showcased his comedic and dramatic acting abilities. Tommy also starred in Morgan Creek Productions' Juwanna Mann.

Tommy was also a star in the provocative urban comedy, Booty Call (Columbia Pictures), and played opposite Jada Pinkett Smith in the romantic comedy, Woo (New Line). He also made an impressive film debut opposite Halle Berry in Strictly Business and reunited with fellow In Living Color alumni, Jim Carrey in Ace Ventura II: When Nature Calls.

Davidson started out performing stand-up in local talent showcases where he was spotted by concert promoters who booked him as the opening act for such major music stars as Patti LaBelle, Kenny G, and Luther Vandross.

The next step was Hollywood. He performed at many small clubs, including the Comedy Act Theatre, where among others, he met Robert Townsend and Keenen Ivory Wayans, who would later prove instrumental in Davidson's career.

Davidson's first national television appearance was a starring role in Townsend's Partners in Crime. Tommy was then offered him the opportunity to audition for a primetime variety show called In Living Color, which became a cult favorite and a huge ratings success. Davidson's hilarious impressions of Sammy Davis Jr., Michael Jackson, and others were some of the most talked-about bits on the show.

In Living Color led to three Showtime specials for Tommy: On Strength of New York, Illin' in Philly, and Takin' it to DC.

He is currently headlining comedy clubs across the country.

At the young age of 15, Gilbert Gottfried began doing stand-up at open mike nights in New York City and after a few short years, became known around town as "The Comedian's Comedian." After spending several years mastering the art of stand-up comedy, producers of the legendary NBC late night comedy show "Saturday Night Live" became aware of Gottfried and, in 1980, hired him as a cast member. It wasn't until a few years later when his true notoriety would begin when MTV hired him for a series of improvised and hilarious promos for the newly formed channel. This led to several television appearances on "The Cosby Show" and "Late Night with David Letterman."

Gottfried's work in television soon led to roles in film. Most notable was his improvised scene as business manager Sidney Bernstein in the hit sequel "Beverly Hills Cop II," for which the New York Daily News said, "Gilbert Gottfried steals the picture with a single scene." Aside from his glowing reputation in comedy clubs, Gottfried began to gain a reputation as the king of quirky roles in both movies and television. He appeared in such movies as "Problem Child," "Problem Child II," "Look Who's Talking II" and "The Adventures of Ford Fairlane." He was also the host of the very popular late night movie series "USA Up All Night."

After his stellar performance as the wise cracking parrot, IAGO, in the Disney classic "Aladdin," Gottfried became one of the most recognizable voiceover talents, lending his voice to several commercials, cartoons and movies, including the frustrated duck in the AFLAC Insurance commercials. Gottfried also is the voice of DIGIT in the long running PBS Series "Cyberchase," can be heard on the Comedy Central series, "The Annoying Orange", and as the voice of the horse on "Family Guy."

Gottfried appeared on the ABC reality series "Celebrity Wife Swap," swapping with Alan Thicke, numerous Comedy Central Roasts and the Comedy Central series, "The Burn with Jeff Ross." Gottfried's hilarious viral video reading of "Fifty Shades of Grey" (College Humor) received over 4 million views on YouTube. Gilbert is a frequent guest on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "The Howard Stern Show." In addition, has had a recurring role on "Law and Order" SVU as TARU tech Leo Gerber.

Gottfried appeared in the hit comedy documentary "The Aristocrats," with Entertainment Weekly saying that "out of the 101 comedians who appear on screen, no one is funnier - or more disgusting than Gilbert Gottfried." Gottfried, a classic movie lover, was a guest Programmer on TCM. He mock-complained to TCM host Robert Osborne that choosing only four films out of all those available was "the worst homework assignment ever!"

"Gilbert Gottfried Dirty Jokes" was released on both DVD and CD, featuring 50 non-stop minutes of Gottfried telling the funniest and filthiest jokes ever. The show was filmed live at the Gotham Comedy Club in New York City. Also featured on the DVD are some of the funniest bonus features ever, including wild stories, indignant ranting and celebrity impressions.

Rubber Balls and Liquor is Gilbert Gottfried's hilarious first-ever book. Part memoir, part twisted social commentary, and part scratches on the bathroom wall. With this scathingly funny book of rants and musings, Gottfried sullies an entirely new medium with his dysfunctional worldview.

As a famed comics comic, Gottfried puts aside political correctness for his live performance and fires an onslaught of jokes that know no boundaries.

STEPHEN KING ON GILBERT GOTTFRIED "More than a national treasure, he's a secret weapon. If we had had Gilbert Gottfried in World War II, Hitler would have given up in 1942."

The Winnipeg Press said it best: “Gentle as a starved wolverine and as predictable as a tipsy-hop through a minefield”. Nick Di Paolo’s honest and acerbic comedy has made him a sought after voice on stage, television and radio for years and earned him two Emmy Nominations for writing.

Di Paolo’s career took off after he appeared on “HBO’s Young Comedian Special”. He has since written and performed four standup specials and four CDs. The most recent standup effort being a one hour Showtime special entitled “Raw Nerve”.

He was a regular for the whole two year run of “Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn” and became a staple on the Comedy Central roasts. Other notable television and film credits include “Louie”, “Lucky Louie”, Artie Lange’s “Beer League” a guest starring role on “The Sopranos” and “The Chris Rock Show”, where he was a writer for two seasons as well. Writing credits also include the 77th Annual Academy Awards and the MTV Music Video Awards.

For years he has been a favorite guest on radio shows including “The Howard Stern Show”, “The Opie and Anthony Show” and “The Dennis Miller Show” to name a few. He also hosted “The Nick Di Paolo Show” in New York City in 2007 and “The Nick and Artie Show” from 2011-2012.

Nick Di Paolo is probably one of the most authentic voices whether on or off stage. He’s referred to as a comic’s comic because there are no facades, no act. It’s all Nick Di Paolo, all the time.
